If you have ever wondered why nearly two million wildebeest put themselves through the ordeal of the migration every year, then the Serengeti calving season will show you why. The southern plains of the Serengeti turn green after the November rains and fresh grazing is just what the wildebeest need for their energy-demanding calving season. On this 8 days Tour will take you to visit the Lake Manyara National Park, Ngorongoro Crater and Ndutu Area, Central and Southern Serengeti National Park but we will be focusing on the WILDEBEEST CALVING´S SEASON and this tour will be done from December to March. While the calving begins generally starting in January, the pregnant wildebeest give birth and by February more than 8000 Babies wildebeest are being born every year. The calving season carries on into March and is joined by other animals too. Tens of thousands of zebras and gazelles have accompanied the wildebeest on their trek and are taking advantage of safety in numbers to drop their young too.

After breakfast we will head to the Lake Ndutu region, situated in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a sublime landscape of the southern Serengeti ecosystem. The drive takes approximately 3 hrs, taking us across the beautiful landscape of The Rift Valley
Lake Ndutu, alkaline like most of the other Rift Valley Lakes, is however a viable source of H2O and is frequented by a wide array of the myriad wildlife here inhabiting.
We arrive in time for a delectable luncheon at the luxury tented lodge, and, with appetites sated, undertake our afternoon game drive in the Ndutu region. The majority of the wildebeest migration can normally be found on the short-grass plains from December to April. The area is usually heavily populated with elephant, giraffe, over four hundred species of birds, and a plethora of other resident game.
With our afternoon and early evening game drives drawing to a close, as the African night begins to cloak the ‘Endless Plain’ in her veil of shadow, we make for our carefully selected luxury tented lodge, where delectation, relaxation, and vivifying conversation invite our ease, by the fire upon the Serenget, digestif perhaps in hand, as hyena slink by.

Meals: Breakfast , lunch & dinner included
After breakfast, enjoy a full day game drive in the Ndutu area. Explore the range of different habitats that include swamps, woodland, soda lakes and the world famous Serengeti short grass plains. See great herds of wildebeest and zebra. During a short time frame around February, normally lasting for about 3 weeks, the majority of the wildebeest calve. The sea of grass provides little cover and the young are easy pickings for a variety of predators. Wildebeest calves can run minutes after they are born and within 3 days they are normally strong enough to keep up with the herd.
