Day 2: Arusha – Tarangire National Park

In the morning you will start your safari with a drive to the Tarangire National Park. The park is roughly the size of Luxemburg and covers an area of about 2,600 km². Bush savannah, seasonal swamps and giant baobab trees make up the landscape of this nature reserve and the park is probably one of the best places in East Africa to see elephants. From the open roof of the safari vehicle you will be able to watch them and absorb the landscape. Apart from elephants, the park is also home to Masai giraffes, various gazelles, antelopes, buffaloes, lions, leopards, baboons and more than 500 types of birds. After an extensive game drive you will leave the park in the afternoon and drive to your accommodation in Karatu.

Dinner and overnight at Marera Valley Lodge

Meals: Breakfast, lunch & dinner included

 Day 3: Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, you will continue towards the fertile highlands where wheat and corn are grown by the Iraqw people. Along the way we’ll pass through the mist-shrouded rainforests of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area where you might be lucky enough to see baboons, or even leopards and elephants in the dense undergrowth. You will also be able to see the breath-taking Ngorongoro Crater before traveling onwards to the Serengeti National Park, which you will reach by midday. The Serengeti National Park is the largest park in Tanzania with diverse landscapes and habitats, such as grassy plains, swamps, lakes, savannah and mountains. After an extensive game drive, you will drive to your accommodation where you will enjoy dinner and an overnight stay.

Dinner and overnight at Serengeti Wild Camp

Meals: Breakfast, lunch & dinner included

 Day 4: Serengeti National Park

You will spend the whole day exploring the park, its animals and incredible landscapes. The Serengeti is the habitat for an abundance of wildlife, such as impalas, buffalo, crocodiles and hippos, but is more well-known for its great migrating herds of zebras and wildebeest. The animals’ trek is determined by the rainfall and varies from year to year. Apart from the migrating herds, you may see predators, such as leopards, cheetahs and lions.

Dinner and overnight at Serengeti Wild Camp

Meals: Breakfast, lunch & dinner included

 Day 5: South Serengeti (Ndutu)

After breakfast we will head to the Lake Ndutu region, situated in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a sublime landscape of the southern Serengeti ecosystem. The drive takes approximately 3 hrs, taking us across the beautiful landscape of The Rift Valley.

Lake Ndutu, alkaline like most of the other Rift Valley Lakes, is however a viable source of H2O and is frequented by a wide array of the myriad wildlife here inhabiting.

We arrive in time for a delectable luncheon at the luxury tented lodge, and, with appetites sated, undertake our afternoon game drive in the Ndutu region. The majority of the wildebeest migration can normally be found on the short-grass plains from December to April. The area is usually heavily populated with elephant, giraffe, over four hundred species of birds, and a plethora of other resident game.

With our afternoon and early evening game drives drawing to a close, as the African night begins to cloak the ‘Endless Plain’ in her veil of shadow, we make for our carefully selected luxury tented lodge, where delectation, relaxation, and vivifying conversation invite our ease, by the fire upon the Serenget, digest if perhaps in hand, as hyena slink by.

Dinner and overnight at Serengeti Heritage Ndutu

Meals: Breakfast, lunch & dinner included

 Day 6: South Serengeti (Ndutu)

After breakfast, enjoy a full day game drive in the Ndutu area. Explore the range of different habitats that include swamps, woodland, soda lakes and the world famous Serengeti short grass plains. See great herds of wildebeest and zebra. During a short time frame around February, normally lasting for about 3 weeks, the majority of the wildebeest calve. The sea of grass provides little cover and the young are easy pickings for a variety of predators. Wildebeest calves can run minutes after they are born and within 3 days they are normally strong enough to keep up with the herd.

Lunch, Dinner and overnight as per the standard and type of accommodation option requested.

Dinner and overnight at Serengeti Heritage Ndutu

Meals: Breakfast, lunch & dinner included

Day 7: Ndutu to Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast we head out for an en route game drive through the Serengeti. We may, with lady luck on our side, spot all of the “Big Five” – lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard – whilst spinning our way across the ‘Endless Plain’ to The Ngorongoro Crater. This UNESCO world heritage site, formed millions of years ago with the massive explosion of a volcano once higher than Kilimanjaro, is 610 m deep and covers roughly 304 square kilometers. Due to its dense animal population of approximately 25 000 ungulates the Crater offers the best game viewing of all the parks in Tanzania. We will arrive at the Crater rim before lunch. From here, with our overview of the spectacular landscape that spreads out before our eyes stored in our memories and memory cards, we descend the bumpy winding track that brings us onto the Crater floor and, very quickly, we will be able to see wildebeest, zebra, gazelle, elephant, perhaps our predator friends lounging in the grass or in action, and some of the more than 500 bird species that here inhabit. With a little bit of luck we might catch a glimpse of the endangered black rhino through the grass.

Dinner and overnight at Marera Valley Lodge

Meals: Breakfast, lunch & dinner included

Day 8: Lake Manyara National Park to Airport

This last day will be taking you to the paradise of the primates and aquatic birds. The lake manyara national park offers breathtaking views and a large variety of habitats such as acacia woodlands and underground water forest. The park is very small but is able to support the large number of animal species and incredible bird life. It has the large concentration of baboons, giraffes, elephants, impalas and the lions here are known for their tree climbing. After a short game viewing at the lake manyara national park, you will be driving to the airport [JRO] or [ARK] catching the flight to Zanzibar or home with an amazing experience.

Here will be the end of our safari service. Thank you for experiencing Tanzania with Samora Explorers Ltd and hope to see you again.
